1st Race
My car is being prep'ed as we speak in order to get it's mandatory power test in March ahead of the first race at Brands Hatch 27th-28th March. The car should be up to it lets hope the driver is too. Anyone from the southern region who is interested would be made very welcome on the day.
Margaret is threating to dress up and become a "Lycra Babe" just for the race??. Anyone else game for a laugh?? I am sure we can get some good pics for the LDC website.

Chris
I must admit I had failed to see your name up there with
Fairuz FAUZY
Heikki KOVALAINEN
Jarno TRULLI
I also have to confess that I thought that the first race was in Bahrain but I am not as well informed on Lotus matters as I used to be. I will be looking forward to your first outing in the F1 car, quite a spectacle I would think. I am sure that Margaret will be the best of all the "Pit Pets" and a sure contender for the centerfold of Pit Babes monthly!
I doubt we will be able to make it to your debut in person as I suffer badly from jet lag but rest assured I will be thinking of you, if you have time can you post a lap by lap comment via Twitter? I suppose the gloves might get in the way though.
Seriously, all the very best, can't wait for the post race analysis.
P.S. Can I have your autograph please.

Re:
I do think it was bad not to invite us to the launch party for CAM Racing though Chris ... or are the tickets in the post. Seriously, good luck with your venture this year, I would love to come and support you at the first race but I doubt I will be able to make it. Keep us posted on which races you are doing and I will plan to make as many as I can.

I am expecting the Bahrain tickets in the post soon; as I told Tony that I am not going to Spain if it's raining and to let the other's drive as they need the wet practice more than me.

Someone told me you were driving yesterday, but had to borrow a helmet!
Green flashes on it or something like that.
Anyway best of luck again today.

March update:
Car is now running after some sleepless nights.
Power test March 6th
General testing Mallory 10th March
1st race Brands 27th & 28th March.
I am 5th reserve at Silverstone in April and they assure me that a drive is still very possible...Sorry I might not make Malvern.
I am also booked for Snetterton June 19th & 20th. Big Lotus festival and I hope to see some of you there???

Re: 1st Race
I had the power test yesterday and passed OK. The regs state max 151 HP at the hubs and I had peak 147.5 @ 6540 rpm adjusted for atmospherics 142.5. So I can probably remove the CAT.
I am now looking forward to Mallory on Wednesday morning.....sofar, so good.

Mallory general test day
I survived!!!. I feel totally wasted!!!!
I completed my first test day at a dry but very cold Mallory today. The car performed well and without incident and the only challenge was my glasses steaming up ( must get some anti fog). I managed to overtake an E Type who waved me by....did I scare him??? maybe not. That Lola Le Mans car scared me big time as I tried to get the hell out of his way. He didn't waste much time in flying past me and the noise.....WOW thats what 500HP at 6 feet sounds like.
Big shame about the Lotus type 22, a 1.5 litre V8 Coventry Climax. It only managed a couple of laps and was towed back.
All in all a great day and a nice track. Best of all less than 1 hours drive away.
Looking forward to Brands now I have driven it at last.A very BIG thank you to my cheery crew:
The wonderful lady with the hot coffee flask Gill Edwards
Race Manager & main mechanic Steve Edwards
Photographer Kim Eaton
Sadly no lycra girls.....too cold

Re: 1st Race
Hi Chris
Nice to hear it all went well, I know what you mean about the Lola, I was testing at Silverstone a couple of years ago and was on track at the same time as a Ferrari p3 Le Mans car that was testing in preperation for Classic Le Mans that year, past me as if I was standing still, the sound of it was awesome, not a Ferrari fan but have to admit to checking it out on the internet to see exactly what it was.
Hopefully see you at Lotus Silverstone next week.

Re: 1st Race
Well done Chris, as you know...my favourite track, I knew you would like it. Wish I could have been there, I'm quite handy with the stop watch and pit board - but then if your glasses were steamed up you wouldn't have seen it anyway
I believe Rainex or a spud does the trick!
Cheers,
Tim.

Hi Chris,
What year is your car?..that determines whether you can remove the cat as per blue book regs.
Your chances of racing at Silverstone have improved as I withdrew yesterday as my broken arm will not be ready in time.
Whats your number so I can say hello at Brands.
Incidentally I can get Rain-X exterior and Anti fog for £4.50 for 200ml - usually £6.99. Let me know if you want some.
Peter
