Re: Formula1 chat

For F1 nuts out there go on the RED button on BBC intercative, they are looping old coverage from Australian GP's past. Basically these are the old BBC highlights programs. Watched the 1986 and 1994 ones last night (when Mansells tyre expolded and Schumacher drove into Hill (dirty cheat))
Murry and James, the Chain, Turbo F1 cars, lots of overtaking oh and a points system that worked !!! (Glad Bernies system has been scrapped this week !)

Tim, you will love it...press the red button NOW !!

Practice sessions ... red button ... do you know what times they are running these Simon. I know the recorded coverage is being shown at 1pm but not as long a program as I expected for their return to F1 ... only a few hours?! May have to trundle through the BBC website to find out. Oh thinking of that would be good if the F1 coverage is to be available on iPlayer for those occassions when I miss the race live? Now that would be handy.

As far as I am aware they will not be showing the Forumula 1 in HD, at least not for the opening season I last heard.

According to a reply by Roger Mosey, the director of BBC Sport, the network will not be making F1 racing available in high-def, though he does confess to "wanting to." Yeah, we'd love to say his "I'll keep you posted" remark gives us overwhelming hope, but sadly, we can't.

3rd Practice session on the red button at 3am Saturday morning
Qualify is on BBC1 at 6am (tune in at 4.55 and you will get the first airing of "The Chain" !!!!)

Watched the 1st practice this morning at 1.30, they use radio 5 live commentry which was good. New cars look good on slicks, not sure of the front wings yet but Brawn, Williams and Toyota look to have this rear diffuser thing working well for them, Mclaren look gloomy at the bootom of the times, but then I susspect they are looking to run full fuel for the race start to at least scrape a few points in the race.

Looks like it will be a fantastic weekends racing anyway.... oh and watche the session this morning was fantastic... 1.5hours uniterupted with no adverts !!!!

Not sure I will be up watching it with breakfast but defiantly can't wait to see how these new cars perform and nice to hear my rival team struggling in practice lol.

Australia GP Qualifying

Post  Trigger on Sat Mar 28, 2009 4:57 pm

Just finished watching the re-run of the qualifying session and was immediately taken in by the opening music of course. Congratulations to Brawn GP and well deserved for Rubens and Jenson. Not so good for McLaren, looks like they have a lot of work do do over the next few races to get back at the top which will be a test for Lewis considering Jenson is now the top Brit lol. My team Ferrari seem in a good position to work forward but also have a lot of work to do by the sounds. The teams to set the pace at the start of the new season are defiantly Brawn GP and Red Bull.

As for the new KERS system, not sure it will be around long as the only team in the top 10 running it was Ferrari and it obviously doesn't make much difference in qualifying, probably due to its weight, but will be interesting to see what effect it has on the overtaking for those teams running it. Personally I think they should scrap the idea.

Will be setting the alarm nice and early tomorrow to see the race live ... think it will be one of the best races for a long time in F1. Hope the rest of the season follows suit.

Great result, I'm not particularly superstisious but did you notice Lewis Hamiltons race number last year was 22 and this is the number that Jenson Button is now using, could it be a sign?
