Try a number of helmets on before you buy as they do vary quite a lot. It has to feel very snug to be most effective. Buy the best you can afford. I always wear a balaclava with mine as that keeps it fresher and reduces the amount of cleaning. Use a specific helmet cleaner... the one I use is only £3 and lasts ages.
